Spaghetti Author Mind

When I was much, much younger, I remember thinking that if I could just write a novel, I would have accomplished an amazing feat of perseverance and feel quite talented. I really wanted to be a talented author. But can one really achieve “talent.” I contend that we are all born with a multitude of talents, but to achieve our goals depends on the blood, sweat, and tears we’re willing to put into it.

In general. And maybe not. And maybe it’s the process that’s meaningful, and then there’s luck, and this crazy marketing thing, standing out from the crowd, etc., etc.

In the meantime, I think I’ll continue discovering myself and asking these questions:

  • Can I discover myself by writing fiction? I'm not sure yet.
  • Am I still trying to develop myself as a writer?
  • I want to be a better writer.
  • I want to be a better human being.
  • I always want to write something worthy of being published.
  • I want to be able to make a living as a writer.
  • I want to be able to make a career out of writing.

Wait, writing a novel really does come down to perseverance. And talent. And asking and answering the questions that keep us motivated.
